The GTA series by Rocstar is one of the BIGGEST open world gaming franchises that has been ruling the genre for as long as I could remember. I mean, GTA Vice City was probably my very first game and that too was when I was just a kid and having a PC in my area was considered to be sacred. But I spent an awful lot of time playing the game, exploring the vast and beautiful world of Vice City based on real life Miami.
But fast forward a couple decades and we still see another GTA ruling the open world genre and that is GTA 5, which is quite EPIC because there hardly are any other game developers with the same dedication as Rockstar. And I know for fact that Rockstar takes whatever time they need but when they are finished with the final product, it really out shadow all the other games no matter how popular they are or how massive the game studio is.
And that is indeed the case with GTA 6, Rockstar has spent years in the development of the game. I mean, GTA 5 was released all the way back in 2013 but still to this day, it remains one of the most played games all around the world thanks to the constant updates from Rockstar. Especially the online multiplayer version of the game which made millions of dollars each month and still is.
Rockstar does have been holding back and people are starting to wonder if they are ever going to release the new sequel so they can download GTA 6 and have a blast of a time at it, for another couple decades to come! But the thing is, Rockstar has always been silent and we don’t even know for sure that there is a GTA 6 under works as there is not a single official announcement made by Rockstar and it has always been like this, so people are quite used to it. But according to a lot of new leaks and rumors about GTA 6, it definitely is a thing and it is definitely coming!
So, the question is when is the GTA 6 release date? What can we expect from it and exactly what do we know about the title so far? Here is everything that we know about Rockstar’s upcoming title.
GTA 6 Release Date
Since the last entry in the GTA series was released all the way back in 2013, fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel. And we knew that it’d take Rockstar a few years to release the new title in the series. However, little did we know that it’d take more than a DECADE! But the thing is Rockstar hasn’t really said anything about the existence of the game.
Although, we know for a fact that GTA 6 is in the works mainly because one of Rockstar’s CGI experts, mistakenly released information about his involvement and role in the game. He put in his CV that he has completed his work (CGI) for GTA 6 which was named “The Mexican” and although we don’t know what that means, it really did confirm our suspicion that indeed the game is in the works!
As for the GTA 6 release date, unfortunately there hasn’t been any shred of information out there. But hopefully we will get to download GTA 6 sooner than later.
GTA 6 Leaks and Rumors
2021 has been wild in terms of the rumors and leaks about GTA 6, people have all kinds of different theories about the game. And while most of them are just straight out fantasies, some of the theories actually do make sense.
Here are some of the wildest yet believable GTA 6 rumors and leaks that might actually be true, but then again no promises!
GTA 6 Map
While it’s hard to say anything considering Rockstar’s stonewall approach about the whole GTA 6’s existence. We have found some key evidence that could actually tell us where this new title would take place.
According to one of Rockstar’s employees, who has apparently worked on the GTA project posted a statement on Glassdoor where allegedly or let’s just say, cryptically pointed out that GTA 6 will actually have multiple locations and apparently those locations would be taken from the previous GTA titles.
The three possible locations that he pointed out were Los Santos (LS), Liberty City (LC) and Vice City (VC). He didn’t actually write that out per say, but analysts pointed out that if we put together first letter from each of the sentence, it would say “GTA 6 LS VC LC” which is far less likely to be a coincident but more of a cryptic code for all the fans out there to further confirm there suspicion about their favorite game!
Well, in that case I think we can expect to see a huge world and considering that it’s Rockstar, it will be filled with so many little details that we would spend hours of our precious time trying to sink all that beauty in. MAN, I just can’t!
The Backstory
There have been a ton of different rumors circulating around what the new GTA title would be all about but only a few of them actually line up with whatever information from the reliable sources that we have managed to get our hands on. I did a similar review like this a couple years back based on the then popular reddit post from an infamous leaker that claimed that the new title will actually revolve around the “drug empire” heavily inspired by Netflix’s Narcos series, which if you don’t is based on the life of a drug kingpin of South America Pablo Escobar.
The leaker claimed that the protagonist would have to pull off some drug trades for the Madrazo drug cartel, which would mean killings, drive-bys, sabotaging drug operations and aiding the crew members. I know that actually sounds a little familiar as GTA Vice City previously used somewhat the same story based on the building a drug empire and whatnot but considering it’s coming from Rockstar it would be totally worth it!
The Weapon System
Now this one here is quite interesting, according to number of leaks from multiple source (reliable or not), it seems like Rockstar might actually add a similar features as RDR 2 for the weapon system, where the player would have to store it’s weapons in the trunk of the car and only carry a single weapon at any time. I know this sounds insane as GTA has always been kind of the most crazy game when it comes to the player carrying all sorts of weapons in his, Never mind.
I personally don’t think that it’ll be possible as I just can imagine rolling out on the streets without knowing that I could pull out my RPG Launcher at any time and blast off anyone that comes my way. But then again these are just rumors and there is no official confirmation about this, so I guess we will have to wait for the game to release.
GTA 6 Download Size?
Now a lot of people have been asking about the storage space they’ll need for GTA 6 and many websites have already come up with some crazy PC requirements for GTA 6 and it is totally absurd. There is currently now information whatsoever about the download size of the game for any platform but according to Forbes, at the time of release GTA 6 might actually be smaller than any other Rockstar title in terms of Map size and that might actually mean that GTA 6 will require less space than RDR 2 but then again, NOT CONFIRMED YET!
Conclusion
GTA 6 still seems to be going through the final stages of development and it might not be available for download for a couple more years. But the thing is as Rockstar’s fanboy, I do believe that GTA 6 will be totally worth the wait. So, we might have to wait a bit before we can actually download GTA 6.
